Kozhu kottai



Spicy rice balls


INGREDIENTS:

Rice flour            - 1 cup
Water                 - 11/2 cups
chilly powder    - 1 tsp
Asafoetida (kayam) powder – 2 piches
Oil   - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Dry red chillies (kollamulaku) – 2 nos
Curry leaves  -1 sprig
Salt   - as reqd

PROCEDURE:

Boil water in a pain
Add chilly powder and asafetida.
Make a paste of rice flour and add to the boiling water stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Add salt to taste.
Keep stirring,  till it thickens.
Alternatively, pour the b oiling water into the flour and mix with spoon.
Allow it to cool.
Roll into small balls of the size of marbles.
Apply a little oil on your hands while doing so.
Steam the balls for 5 minutes.
Allow  it to cool.
Heat oil in a person.
Add mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves.
Add the rice balls and stir.
-Serve hot.
